Introduction to Promotion of Renewable Energy

The consciousness about energy and environment has been growing throughout the world to develop new technologies for judicious use of energy.  With rapid growth in energy demand, Renewable Energy (RE) is increasingly being viewed as a strong contributor to energy solution. The Government of Bangladesh has already taken initiatives to promote renewable energy for domestic purposes through photovoltaic (PV) cell and biogas. Different NGOs and many researchers are also working now on dissemination of PV module, wind energy, hydro-power etc. within the country.

Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, geo-thermal, ocean thermal, waves and tides. The use of renewable energy is becoming more and more important throughout the world because the major advantage of renewable energy is that it will never run out. Moreover, it produces very less environment polluting elements.

The seminar will provide a forum for presenting the current research and dissemination activities in the promotion of renewable energy. This will also promote the exchange of ideas and experiences amongst researchers, professionals and practitioners from home and abroad.
